Carolina will aim to extend Dallas' six-game home losing streak in tonight's matchup at American Airlines Center.

The Hurricanes have posted points in five straight games to move into a tie with Pittsburgh for sixth overall in the Eastern Conference. Both clubs lead eight-seeded Florida by a point.
Carolina had matched a season-best four-game winning streak prior to Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to Chicago. Both clubs scored twice through the first three rounds of the extra session before the Blackhawks' Kris Versteeg beat Cam Ward with a wrister just below the crossbar. Sergei Samsonov then failed to extend the shootout for Carolina.
Rod Brind'Amour scored for the third straight game, while former Blackhawk Tuomo Ruutu also tallied for the Hurricanes, who suffered just their third loss in the last 11 games and had outscored their opponents 23-6 over their four-game win streak. Ward stopped 39-of-41 shots in the loss.
Carolina plays the middle portion of a three-game road trip tonight and is 17-14-5 as the guest. They visit Washington on Saturday.
